The Digital Research Alliance of Canada is a non-profit organization funded by the Government of Canada with an ambitious mandate to transform how research across all academic disciplines is organized, managed, stored, and used. 

With the objective of advancing Canada’s position as a leader in the knowledge economy, the Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance), serves Canadian researchers by integrating, championing, and funding the infrastructure and activities required for advanced research computing, research data management, and research software. 

The Government of Canada’s goal, through the Alliance, is to provide all Canadian scientists and scholars with the digital tools they need to conduct the world-leading research that supports innovation in Canada. Working with other ecosystem partners and stakeholders across the country, the Alliance is seeking a Vice President, Strategy and Planning to help provide Canadian researchers with the support they need for leading-edge research excellence, research, innovation, and advancement across all disciplines.

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Strategy & Planning (VP) has responsibility for strategic planning for the Alliance including program design, programs and projects tracking, enterprise architecture, industry relations, and national and international partnerships. The VP ensures that all strategy and planning of the Alliance aligns with and advances the mandate of the organization.   As head of the Strategy & Planning Team, the VP is the main point of contact of the Researcher Council, Expert Committees, and Working Groups which support the development of the Alliance services.

As an ideal candidate you are regarded as a collaborative and inclusive leader who is skilled at motivating and developing teams and partnerships to achieve a shared outcome. Highly knowledgeable in public sector and academic research, you will bring credible leadership in articulating the strategic vision and investment priorities for the research landscape. Regarded for your exceptional judgement and problem-solving approach, you will be able to generate action in developing new solutions and navigating complex situations with multiple stakeholders. A graduate degree in a related field and the ability to communicate effectively in both official languages is preferred.
