Denis Thérien

Denis Thérien is Vice-President of Research and Partnerships at ServiceNow, a Montreal start-up that helps organizations operationalize AI by connecting business and the research community. He had previously held a similar position at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), where he served since 2011. Prior to that, Dr. Thérien was Vice-Principal of Research and International Relations at McGill University from 2005 to 2010.

Dr. Thérien was a researcher and professor at McGill for 40 years before taking on this new role, beginning his career at McGill in 1978. In 1997, he was appointed Director of the School of Computer Science. Dr. Thérien was awarded a James McGill Chair in 2002. In 2000, he received the Forschungpsreise, a research prize from the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation.

Dr. Thérien received his B.Sc. from the Université de Montréal and holds an M.Sc. and PhD from the University of Waterloo. He has published over 100 research articles on computational complexity in top-tier journals and is a respected, expert conference speaker.
