Feridun Hamdullahpur is the Chancellor of International Business University. He has an acclaimed career as an engineer, academic administrator and a leader. Previously, Dr. Hamdullahpur served as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waterloo from October 2010 to July 2021.
In various positions as an academic administrator, his mandate was to provide leadership in developing new academic and research initiatives. Dr. Hamdullahpur also worked to integrate the following research and academic matters including but not limited to graduate studies, technology-knowledge transfer, international programs, government, business, granting councils, other universities and research organizations. His research areas include energy conversion, thermo-fluids, fuel cells and hydrogen conversion. He has supervised over 40 graduate students, holds several patents, and published over 200 scientific and technical articles.
Dr. Hamdullahpur is an active member of the International Science and Technology Partnerships board of directors and serves on the international advisory boards of Sorbonne University (France) and King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia). He is also Chairman of the Board of AMTD International (Hong Kong) and appointed as Chancellor of the International Business University in 2021. He serves on several boards including ApplyBoard (Waterloo), World Education Services (New York) and as Honorary Treasurer of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (London). In acknowledgement of Dr. Hamdullahpur’s leadership in education and innovation, he was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013, and Order of Canada in 2022.
