Jeffrey Taylor

Jeffrey Taylor is the Associate Vice-President of Applied Research and Innovation at the Nova Scotia Community College, the only publicly funded college in Nova Scotia. In this role, he is privileged to oversee thriving entrepreneurship, research, innovation, international programming, industry engagement, technology access and strategic partnership activities at all 20 College locations across the province.

In his career as a research scientist, Dr. Taylor worked on large satellite data projects at the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo and the National Centre for Atmospheric Research. He also helped lead the development and construction of the National Ecological Observatory Network, the first continental-scale observatory, which publishes over 170 live data products from 81 sites every hour. Dr. Taylor is Vice-Chair of the National Research Advisory Council for Colleges and Institutes Canada, a Board Member of Springboard Atlantic and a Member of the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship’s Senior Leadership Team. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Marine Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence and is on the Network Steering Committee for the Nova Scotia Integrated Health Research and Innovation Strategy.

Dr. Taylor obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Toronto. He is a graduate of the National Science Foundation’s Leadership Collaboratory Executive Management Program and Colleges and Institutes Canada’s Vice-President’s Leadership Institute. He currently serves as a Faculty Leader for the National Applied Research Leadership Institute.
