Statement on the AI Sovereign Compute Infrastructure Program

The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) welcomes the Government of Canada’s vision for the AI Sovereign Compute Infrastructure Program and its recognition of the critical role of compute, data, and talent in advancing AI research and innovation. This holistic approach to integrate these components will ensure Canada is a global leader in artificial intelligence innovation underpinned by world-class digital research infrastructure.

This investment will not only revolutionize Canada’s AI ecosystem but also greatly enhance opportunities for Canadian researchers, innovators, and industry. As the national organization responsible for providing researchers public access to cutting-edge digital research infrastructure, the Alliance welcomes feedback and collaboration opportunities from major Canadian public and private entities to help shape our response and ensure that Canada’s AI investments are strategic, sustainable, and impactful.

Over the coming weeks, the Alliance will be hosting webinars and virtual town halls with national stakeholders, and you are encouraged to register and join one of these sessions. More information will be provided shortly.

The Alliance will also be launching a web portal for organizations to provide input into our vision and ideas for collaboration as we lead a plan for the development of a national sovereign AI infrastructure proposal. We encourage all interested parties to provide their submissions before March 31, 2025, at 1:00PM EST.

If you have any questions or comments related to this SOI we encourage all interested parties to email partnerships[at]alliancecan.ca.
