The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) welcomes Dr. Amol Verma as Chair and Dr. Carolyn Côté-Lussier as Vice-Chair of the Researcher Council. This Council focuses on ensuring the varied needs of the research community are met through digital research infrastructure (DRI) and services. They serve as champions for their peers and act as strategic advisors to the Alliance.
Dr. Verma is a physician and scientist at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto, and the Temerty Professor of AI Research and Education in Medicine at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on improving hospital care using data from electronic health records. He served as Vice-Chair of the Researcher Council from 2021 to 2024.
Dr. Côté-Lussier will join Dr. Marie-Jean Meurs as Vice-Chair in January 2025. An Assistant Professor in the Centre Urbanisation Culture Société of the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Criminology, University of Ottawa, Dr. Côté-Lussier’s research intersects criminology, social psychology, health and more.
We are grateful to Dr. Randall Sobie, who served as Chair since 2021. A Principal Research Scientist with the Institute of Particle Physics at the University of Victoria, Dr. Sobie has been instrumental in establishing our priorities for DRI.
Dr. Verma, Dr. Côté-Lussier, Dr. Meurs and Dr. Sobie have served on the Researcher Council since its inauguration in 2020.
